edVenture! At BCA we believe that differentiated learning is at the very foundation to a student’s academic success. Our teachers spend time learning about each of their students. By understanding the unique learning abilities of each student, our teachers can teach and connect with each student individually. We know each student learns differently.
It’s important for us to have child that can’t wait to come to school. A child who wants to be at school is ready to learn.
We have a very strong focus on experiential learning. In addition to our amazing classroom work we introduce the students to hands on learning experiences. We believe that through “Learning by doing” it exposes students to experiences that will captivate their minds and help them find something to be passionate about.
Experiential learning at BCA has opened a new world to our students. Experiential learning allows students to experience life. The end result is active participation that engages higher brain function and stimulates the senses. These experiences challenge our students to gain insight and apply this new found knowledge to their personal lives and future growth as leaders within the community.
ALPA
ALPA is a program geared for students who possess a strong commitment and desire to play sports while receiving advanced level training, coaching and mentoring in the sport of their choice. Students are exposed to an educational program that focuses on strong academics and advanced level training in athletics, health and fitness. Their timetable is well within the Ontario Ministry of Education guidelines and includes "Specific Training Sessions" and a "Healthy Active Living" component. TCAP
The Theatre and Creative Arts Program (TCAP) at Burlington Christian Academy is an exciting new program designed to develop skills in arts performance and presentation in the context of a Christian worldview for interested and committed students, and to provide opportunities to showcase those skills. edVenture
No two days are alike in our edVenture program. The broad base exposure to news experiences is the central focus. edVenture students engage in the arts, athletics, and science and technology through experiential learning, hands on learning to generate a passion for life experiences. For more information about edVenture click here.
In addition to the above programs our students learn the basics of math and language arts, as well as science, Bible, computers, art, music, physical education, and library skills. These subject areas provide students with a well-rounded education designed to promote the essential components of child development.
The language arts curriculum, which balances literature and phonics, teaches our students to enjoy reading. The Accelerated Reader program also encourages the students to read independently. Our math curriculum focuses on the mastery of math skills, understanding of important concepts, and the integration of problem solving.
Burlington Christian Academy uses the EQAO (Ontario Ministry of education testing) which is administered annually in grades 3 and six. BCA opts to do this even though most private schools do not take part. We do the testing so parents can understand the quality of education at BCA in comparison other schools within the Ontario public school system.
