Avril Helfer

Junior Kindergarten

Avril began her career in social work, earning a Master’s degree in Social Work from Stellenbosch University in South Africa. She later completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Education, specializing in the Foundation Phase, through the University of South Africa. Before relocating to Canada, Avril taught Grades 1 and 2 and worked as a Senior Kindergarten teaching assistant.

Avril and her family moved from South Africa to the Greater Toronto Area in 2019. After homeschooling her son for two and a half years, she joined the BCA team as an Educational Assistant in 2023 and began teaching Junior Kindergarten in 2024.

Avril has a special passion for the kindergarten years and loves watching her students grow and thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Most importantly, she considers it a privilege to help them grow in their faith and develop a deeper love for the Lord.
