Charlene is very excited and grateful to be part of the BCA community as the Grade 5 homeroom teacher. She also teaches Math, Science, and Bible in Grade 5, Math and Science in Grade 4, and Math in Grade 6. She joined BCA in September 2026 and is thankful to be part of a school community where faith, learning, and relationships are valued.

Charlene holds a degree in Early Childhood Development and a Master’s degree in Education Management and Law, both from the University of Pretoria in South Africa. She brings more than 20 years of teaching experience, having taught students from Junior Kindergarten through Grade 7. Most of her teaching experience was in South Africa, followed by a year teaching at John Knox Christian School after immigrating to Canada with her family in 2025.

Teaching has always been a passion for Charlene, and she believes it is a calling from God. She loves creating a classroom where students feel known, cared for, and encouraged to believe in themselves and their abilities. She wants each learner to feel safe to try, make mistakes, persevere, and discover, “I can do this!” Her hope is that students grow not only academically, but also in confidence, character, and faith, knowing how deeply they are loved by God.

Charlene has always had a special love for Mathematics and enjoys helping students discover that numbers can be both meaningful and fun. She feels blessed to be living in Canada and is excited to build meaningful relationships with her students and families as they learn and grow together.
